John Wang

I grew up in China and, in 2018, had the opportunity to be a Visiting Undergraduate Student (VUS) at Harvard. Following my graduation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020 with a degree in physics, I returned to Harvard to pursue a Ph.D. in Applied Physics. My research focuses on using physical and mathematical models to understand the evolution of viruses, such as SARS-CoV-2.

Outside of academia, my passions include astrophotography, poker, and staying active in the gym. I'm open to sharing insights about pursuing an advanced degree in STEM, adjusting to life at Harvard as an international student, or discussing any interesting topics. If you have any questions, or if you're just looking for an interesting conversation, don't hesitate to reach out!
