All materials will be provided by Dudley House, and the workshop will run two hours, including free time to draw....

Dudley House Art Workshop: "Drawing Space"-- Registration open!

    7:30pm to 9:30pm

    Location:

Private Dining Room Instructor: Diane Szczepaniak

This workshop offers an introduction to drawing with charcoal. We will draw in three-dimensional space while considering how the meeting of light and dark creates form. Through a series of technical and imaginative exercises, students will learn the nuances of drawing a line and its interaction with surrounding space on the page and the physical world at large. By the end of class, students will have drawn a jumble of chairs grounded in space, created a Notan design from black and white paper, and become aware of how touch is significant to drawing.

Back by popular demand: the Color Workshop! In this workshop, we will consider different meanings of color and the way it interacts with our senses. By the end of the class, everyone will have created paintings—either figurative or abstract—that reflect personal and formal or compositional uses of color. The class is intended to introduce non-traditional and synesthetic ways of thinking about color, and to invite participants to notice how...
