This Friday, take a break from your books and reconnect with your body! Join contemporary dance artist Emily Beattie in a 75-minute movement class. No movement/dance experience necessary, all levels welcome. The class costs $10 and you can sign up in advance on the third floor of Dudley House by paying with cash or a check.

This 75-minute dance class is for lovers of all movement at any skill level. We will rock out to jams as we solve physical challenges, get overly dramatic, and try some new smooth moves. We will playfully approach alignment and learn some fundamental movement patterns for a healthier and happier body. Class is led by artist Emily Beattie (bio below).

This workshop offers an introduction to drawing with charcoal. We will draw in three-dimensional space while considering how the meeting of light and dark creates form. Through a series of technical and imaginative exercises, students will learn the nuances of drawing a line and its interaction with surrounding space on the page and the physical world at large. By the end of class, students will have drawn a jumble of chairs grounded in space, created a Notan design from black and white paper, and become aware of how touch is significant to drawing.
Back by popular demand: the Color Workshop! In this workshop, we will consider different meanings of color and the way it interacts with our senses. Through technical and imaginative exercises, students will explore how color symbolism and association are built up and broken down. By the end of the class, everyone will have created paintings—either figurative or abstract—that reflect personal and formal or compositional uses of color. Come join us pre- or post-lunch on Friday, October 30th! Take some time out of your day to get creative and make some festive Halloween-themed decorations, or do some painting/drawing/other arty fun.
