Serve and Grow: Volunteer at an Urban Farm

Are you dedicated to creating a sustainable food system? Do you want to help your community? Do you like spending time outside and learning about food? 

Visit the Food Project urban farm in Boston with the Dudley Public Service Team! We will learn about the organization and its mission, and help with tasks such as planting, weeding, harvesting, washing vegetables and preparing beds. This is a great opportunity to escape schoolwork and enjoy a day of farming together!

Volunteer Trip to the Greater Boston Food Bank

Time: Friday afternoon, April 7th. Action: End Hunger!

Join the Dudley Food Literacy program for a Friday afternoon volunteer shift at the headquarter of the Greater Boston Food Bank! We will be trained in food safety at first and then will work as a team. We will meet at 12:15PM, April 7th at the hallway of the Dudley Cafe and head for 70 South Bay Ave, Boston on red line. The shift will be 1-3:30PM. We plan to arrive back at Harvard at 4PM.

Mindfulness is about developing the ability to be fully attentive to all moments in life. Offered in collaboration with HUHS, this introductory course is designed to reduce the amount of time you spend worrying about the future and fretting about the past. 

You will be introduced to several mindfulness exercises: meditation, correct breathing, guided imagery, the body scan and more.

Dudley House Food Literacy Fireside Chat: Conversation with Boston Mayor’s Office of Food Initiatives

 

        The City of Boston is now working with non-government organizations in combating the challenges of food insecurity in Boston and reducing inequity in food access. The program is currently undergoing much change and values potential input of Harvard students.

        Come and learn more about the program and contribute your ideas. Together we can make Boston a even better place for everyone!

Do you love volunteering? Are you looking for a positive way to start the semester?

Join Dudley Public Service Team on February 2nd and contribute your time and energy to the Boston Living Center (BLC).

The BLC serves up to 40,000 warm and nutritious meals a year to people living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers are at the heart of the meal program as they help to set-up the dining room, prepare and serve food and clean up when the meal is over.
