Every semester your Athletics Fellows coordinate competitions and events for Dudley members. Join our mailing lists for more information. Also, check out our Facebook group. If you have an idea for a fun activity, please reach out to the Athletics Fellows. We always welcome ideas!

Intramural Sports Program
Every semester, Dudley House members compete against the twelve undergraduate houses at Harvard to win the Straus Cup. Dudley won the Straus Cup for the very first time in spring 2014! Join one or more of our teams to help us continue Dudley's quest for glory. See the Intramural and Club sports page for more information.

Mailing lists are the main way information is distributed at Dudley house and ESPECIALLY at Dudley Athletics. By clicking here you can sign up for all of the mailing lists at Dudley, including the ones for the sports that interest you! We have captains for each sport/activity working hard to plan events and that information is often sent out only on the specific mailing list for each sport. 

Special Tournaments
Every semester the Dudley Athletics Fellows coordinate special tournaments in conjunction with the Harvard House Intramural Program. Participants win points towards the Straus Cup! 
Annual events include Charles River runs, innertube water polo, badminton tournament, a climbing competition, dodgeball, table tennis tournament, swim meet, and fencing meet. See the Intramural and Club Sports page for more information. 

Fun Outings 
The Athletics Fellows also plan local sports-related outings. Past favorites include bike rides to Walden Pond, kayaking on the Charles River, rock-climbing at Brooklyn Boulders, and ropes course visits. Oct 25

Strength Training 101

2:00pm to 3:00pm

Hemenway Gym

Harvard Recreation is offering a special session called Strength Training 101 with Dudley members in mind. One of the fitness specialists and personal trainers will offer tips for preparing and executing certain strength training movements in the gym. You will have the opportunity to gain experience moving around and using the weight room so that you feel more confident to lift effectively and safely.

Head of the Charles Outing

Join other Dudley members to experience one of the largest rowing regattas in the world! We will meet on the steps of Dudley House and walk down to the river to check out the festivities. We should catch both the men’s and women’s championship 8 races, which include top national collegiate and international boats. Experienced rowers will be there to answer your questions and explain what is going on. If you are thinking about rowing with Dudley in the spring, this event is a particularly good way to find out more about the sport and Dudley’s program.

Charles River Run

3:00pm to 4:00pm

Location: 

Newell Boathouse

The Charles River Run is a 1.8 mile race that starts and ends at the Newell Boat House, located immediately west of the intersection of JFK St./North Harvard St.  Everybody who attends this race earns points for Dudley House, even if they walk the route.  We get additional points for the rankings of our ten fastest men and ten fastest women.  The men's race starts at3pm and the women's race starts at 3:30pm.  Races start on the dot; please arrive 15 minutes early.

4x200m Track Meet

McCurdy Outdoor Track

The first IM special event is coming up! Men's and women's relay teams have the chance to sprint to glory. To get full Straus Cup points, we need to enter at least three men's and three women's teams. It is a great team event and runners of all abilities are very welcome (unless you used up your NCAA eligibility in track, sorry). We get points for participation as well as results.

Walden Pond Bike Ride

9:30am to 3:00pm

Meet in front of Dudley House

It's a Dudley Athletics tradition! Come join our annual bike ride to Walden Pond. The stunning ride will take us there along roads northwest of Cambridge and back along the Minuteman Bike Trail. The bike ride is about 35 miles round-trip and during the ride we will break into different groups according to levels. Walden Pond, made famous by Henry David Thoreau, is a great place to swim if it's warm and is a lovely setting in any weather. GSAS Dean Garth McCavana will lead us on the ride!
